At ECCES, we have a multitude of ways that you can get involved with our programs.

We are a nonprofit that equips refugees, asylees, immigrants, and parolees through education, career counseling, mentorship, employment services, and cultural assimilation. There are so many opportunities for you to engage.

TN VOLUNTEER

OPPORTUNITIES

  • (See more details below section.) Partner with a participant who is pursuing a similar career as you. Help develop their potential through connections and advice.

  • Meet with mentees 5 times over the course of 3 months.

RESUME EDITOR
  • Work independently and one-on-one with various participant’s resumes + cover letters.

JOB SHADOWING LEAD
  • Invite Candidate(s) into your industry to experience a U.S. work environment.

LANGUAGE + LITERACY TRAINING
  • Work with participants on their English language and reading development.

TRANSLATION SERVICES
  • Help translate important conversations for our participants who haven’t learned English yet.

CAREER CLASS FACILITATOR
  • Topics Overview: Networking, Interviewing, Marketing Yourself, LinkedIn, Resume/Cover Letter Writing, Applying for Jobs Online

  • Classes are 2 hours long and will be offered every other month by facilitator

WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR
  • Topics Overview: Networking, Mock Interviews, LinkedIn Profile Completion,  Marketing Yourself

  • Classes are 2 hours long and will be offered every other month by instructor

MOCK INTERVIEW COACH
  • You can attend workshops as a supporting role to coach participants through interviews.

GUEST SPEAKER
  • Bring your industry expertise into ECCES by providing a keynote lecture that will help participants succeed in career development

Become an ECCES Mentor!

A ECCES Mentor is a professional committed to offering support to skilled immigrants seeking to re-enter their field of work in their new home. Mentorship is needed in all professional fields to serve the diverse backgrounds of our job seekers.

Whether you are an industry veteran or mid-career professional; you have valuable experience to share with job seekers. As a ECCES Mentor, you will play a vital role in the transformation of job seekers lives through sharing your knowledge, experiences, and connections. It is immensely rewarding to see your mentee’s life transformed as they gain excitement and hope for the future and then successfully become the accomplished professional they once were. You will be asked to meet with your mentee 5 times over the course of 3 months.

MENTORSHIP DUTIES:
  1. Share your knowledge of the U.S. workplace, culture, and expectations

  2. Share lessons learned in your own career

  3. Enhance professional networking through introductions

  4. Promote academic success and professionalism

  5. Provide encouragement through the job search process

  6. Job shadowing, if your workplace allows

  7. Provide suggestions on entry level jobs in their field as they pursue licensure

  8. Offer job search advice, interview coaching, and industry insight

  9. Develop a meaningful friendship
